A great deal of the inspiration for my art and photographic work comes from being outdoors and making that connection with the natural environment.  At the same time a lot of my motivation comes from the human interaction of public art projects and the power of participating in fundraising events (such as the Wild in Art projects) that have the added value of being able to give something back.  For this reason I am happy to provide photographic prints and artworks to selected charities and fundraising events, particularly those with a people or environmental orientation.

Saving Chloe Saxby

In 2017 I donated a framed photograph, Make a Wish, to the Chloe Saxby and Vanishing White Matter Disease charity (www.chloesaxby.com.au).

Chloe is a young girl suffering from the rare Vanishing White Matter Disease. Chloe's family established the charity with all funds raised going to advancing the life saving research for a cure for Vanishing White Matter Disease.

My donation was auctioned at a fundraising event.

Taronga Zoo

When the opportunity arose to support Taronga Zoo in their work on the Australian native Platypus, Bilby, Marine Turtle, Regent Honey Eater and Corroboree Frog I didn't hesitate in offering Zerzura, my hand-painted, life-size zebra sculpture, as an auction item at the 100th anniversary gala dinner in November 2016.

The event was a huge success with over $700,000 raised. After spirited bidding Zerzura sold for $7,500.

The work Taronga does in conservation and protection of wildlife is tremendous and I believe that together we can achieve a shared future for wildlife and people.

In 2015, I was pleased to support Greenpeace in their efforts to raise awareness about the plight of the Great Barrier Reef.

My donated photograph, Elephant Eye, was auctioned at a fundraising event, contributing $500 to the cause.

Elephant Eye is a print with a limited run of five.  Only one of the prints is still available for purchase - drop me an email to enquire mattmcl@mattmclartyphotography.com
